Upgrading your windows and doors is one of the most effective ways to improve your home’s comfort, energy efficiency, and overall value. Through the SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) grant scheme, homeowners can receive financial support to make these improvements more affordable.

Am I Eligible?

To qualify for the SEAI Window and Door Grant, your home must meet the following criteria:

  • The property must have a valid MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number)

  • It must have been built and occupied before 2011

  • You must be upgrading existing single or double glazed windows

  • Applicants can apply for the windows grant, the doors grant or both

After your upgrade:

  • A post-works BER (Building Energy Rating) is required (this assessment is also grant-supported)

  • Your home must achieve a ‘Good’ or ‘Very Good’ Heat Loss Indicator on the BER

Grant Values

Windows Grant

The grant amount depends on your property type:

  • Apartment: €1,500

  • Mid-Terrace: €1,800

  • Semi-Detached: €3,000

  • Detached: €4,000

External Doors Grant

  • €800 per door (maximum of 2 doors)

How the Application Process Works

If you are applying for the grant yourself, the process is straightforward:
  1. Request Quotes
    Get quotes from SEAI-registered contractors
    (Weathermaster Kerry ID:19685)

  2. Apply to SEAI
    Submit your application online for grant approval

  3. Wait for Approval
    Do not begin any work until you receive your official grant offer

  4. Complete the Installation
    Once approved, proceed with your window and/or door upgrades

  5. Post-Works BER Assessment
    Arrange a BER assessment after the work is completed

  6. Submit Documentation
    Send all required paperwork to SEAI

  7. Receive Your Grant Payment
    SEAI will process your payment (inspections may be carried out)

If you choose to work with a One Stop Shop provider, they can manage this entire process on your behalf.
