PVC doors are an excellent choice for any home. They are hard-wearing (making them perfect for the Irish weather!), resilient and easy to maintain. And nowadays, with so many styles of door available, a statement front door can add some extra personality to your home.
At Weathermaster, we regularly meet with customers who have heard about the benefits of PVC front doors but are struggling to calculate the costs of replacement. This article will explain the cost of PVC doors so that you can confidently proceed with the installation.
How Much Do PVC Doors Cost?
Many people expect PVC doors to be expensive, but in fact, they usually offer the best value for money when compared to other popular materials such as wooden, composite and aluminium doors.
When you are budgeting for your new door, keep in mind that prices range from £200-£400 depending on the style of door chosen. There’s no difference in price between front, back and side doors but if you want to make your front door stand out, you may consider adding extra panels or windows, which can increase the cost slightly.
PVC doors are a long term investment that pays off in spades. Most of our doors include a 15-year guarantee, so you can purchase with complete peace of mind. After all, there’s a reason interior designers, architects and builders all recommend using PVC.
What Influences the Price?
The price of your PVC door will depend on the design you choose and any ‘accessories’ that you add to the frame. Here are the key factors to consider:
Colour
White is a popular choice when it comes to PVC doors but there are tonnes of options available for the adventurous. You can even opt to choose imitation wood doors for a natural look.
Glass
Your choice of glass will add to the final cost. We have a range of options available including clear, tinted, decorative, and safety glass to suit every budget.
Door grids
Having Georgian bars and other decorative grids adds style and flair to your PVC doors. Many of our customers enjoy the character these features give their property but bear in mind that they can increase the cost.
What Is the Cost of PVC Door Installation?
Unless you’re an experienced joiner, we strongly recommend that you call professionals to fit your new doors. If you don’t fit the door properly, it won’t be airtight. And this means it’s not going to be energy efficient or as secure as you would like.
It usually takes two people to fit a single door. Expect for it to take around half a day to fit the door, but you’ll need to allow extra time to remove and dispose of the existing door and it’s frame if that needs to change.
The cost of door installation starts from £250 for labour, plus the cost of the door frame you choose. If you’re having a side pannel fitted expect to pay more, they typically add around £200 to the installation price.
